A Dior Love Affair; A/W 2011 LOOKBOOK

Hello my Lovelies

What a copious affair this is, indeed; Christian Dior's Autumn/Winter 2011 look book, which takes inspiration from the legendary love affair between Mrs. Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII. According to the Dior website; "English romanticism is channeled into Balmoral fringed tweeds and candy-coloured tartans with Prince of Wales checks. Ultimate luxury and expertise create evening glamour in elegant draped gowns and head to toe sequins to ensure that every head is turned.”

The A/W 2011 lookbook is amorous decadence at its best.

J'adore!

VERSACE for H&M

Hello my Lovelies;

Donatella Versace has officially confirmed that Versace is the latest fashion house to collaborate with H&M, following the huge success of the Lanvin for H&M collaboration last year.

The Versace for H&M collaboration is to include both womenswear and menswear, as well as homeware. The collection will be a homage to Gianni, the late brother of Donatella, and she plans to take inspiration from the Versace archives. She has named the collaboration collection as an  'Iconic Collection' rather than a diffusion line.

Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M said that Versace's designs will be ultra glamorous and iconic: "Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant - everything Versace stands for, Donatella Versace is sharing with us iconic designs from the archives. This is such a celebratory collaboration and is perfect for the party season."

The collaboration will launch in stores on November 17th in 300 stores worldwide - put it in your diaries folks!

J'ADORE: Alexis Mabille

Hello My Lovelies;

We are adding something extravagant and equally as luxurious to our ever expanding covet list; an Alexis Mabille Fall Couture 2010 Petal Embroidery Dress as seen on Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl in the episode "The Wrong Goodbye."

Teamed perfectly with a beige mohair Alberta Ferretti coat, with embellished collar, this is why Waldorf's Wardrobes run high in the style stakes, perfectly paired, oozing elegance and sheer feminine delicacy.

Chanel: The Boy Bag

Hello My Lovelies;

Karl Lagerfeld is launching a new collection of exquisitely enticing bags for Autumn/Winter 2011, named the Boy Bag. Lagerfeld was inspired by Coco Chanel who used to carry a similar style of bag.

Lagerfeld commented on the new androgynous design range:
Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel. She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life, which, incidentally, explains why the new bag is called the Boy Chanel.

The sleek bags come in a range of shades which are subdued yet still give a powerful presence; from intense black, deepest grey, lacklustre red to brilliant ivory. With crisp industrial hardware in silver or bronze, it gives off a very masculine charm, unlike the signature sleek feminine clasp we are so familiar with. It is produced in various styles, from totes, slide handle clutches to large chain-strap shoulder bags.

Its sheer simplicity and fineness has managed to strike an almost impossible balance between masculine and feminine delicacy,  perfectly embodying the androgynous charm the designer, Coco Chanel was renowned for.

I have a feeling this new collection will reach the iconic status similar to that of the 2.55 very quickly!
