Pakistan Fashion Week 2011

Hello My Lovelies;

Unbeknown to most of us, Pakistan is seeking to lay down strong roots in the style stakes of the global fashion market and rightly so. The Third annual fashion week in the Country's history kicked off last week in Lahore and is organized by the Pakistan Fashion Design Council.

Over 35 designers showcased their collections, many of them pushing the traditional boundaries with more contemporary, maybe even controversial designs. Below is a roundup of some of my favorite images.

Above: Karma's collection was dainty and captured the essence of Spring perfectly
Above: Sublime by Sara Shahid: vivid orange and yellow ensembles captured the reoccurring hot orange trend we have been seeing on runways this season

Above: Mohsin Ali: The Princess and the Pea with jeweled quilting, rainbow primaries and head dresses

Above: Fahad Hussayn: dubbed as Pakistan's "Goth McQueen." His black and metallic collection was inspired by the cave goddess of Portugal; "Moura"

Above: Khaadi Khaas embraced summer prints perfectly
Above: Nickie Nina. Bright floral prints balanced out perfectly with the traditional attire worn by Sindh Women

I think this proves that Pakistan is steady becoming recognized for its fashion forward stance and amazing creations.

Much love, GlamGirl x
